Pulsed RF

Pulsed RF is a method where one or more nerves that may be causing the pain are first identified through diagnostic blockades. Then, a needle is placed as close to the nerve as possible with a current being passed through it. This is done using ultrasound or X-rays and possible electrical stimulation of the nerve. The difference from radiofrequency coagulation is that the needle is not heated to the same temperature but is kept around 40 degrees. This way, no permanent damage is created, but rather the nerve is stimulated to reduce its pain signaling.
